How California home care licensing works

Home Care Organizations are licensed by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. This registry copies the public open-data file. CDSS still holds the current license record.

What the license covers

A Home Care Organization license lets a business refer or employ home care aides for non-medical help in a person's home. It is not a skilled nursing or home-health license. Ask the agency what tasks they will and will not do.

Who decides status

County Community Care Licensing offices and CDSS issue, suspend, and close licenses. A row in the open-data file can lag the live facility search. Always verify the facility number on the official CDSS search before you hire.

What this registry does

California Home Help republishes name, license number, address, city, county, and status so families can browse. Listing is not an endorsement. Closed and pending rows stay in the file so the copy matches the state extract.
